The incident happened just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, on Route 110 in North Amityville, according to Suffolk County Police. A 59-year-old man was crossing the roadway in front of the Amityville Laundromat when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai Santa Fe. The victim died at the scene. Police have not released his name or hometown. The driver, a 50-year-old Bay Shore resident, was not injured and remained at the scene.

South Jersey Pretzel & Water Ice announced it was closing on Facebook. “Thank you for over 50 years of support while we made the best soft pretzels and water ice anywhere. We, unfortunately, must close as our lease is ending,” the Facebook post read. The business was at 912 N. White Horse Pike in Stratford.  It originally opened in 1972 in Ocean City as Ocean City Pretzel Co. Dozens of customers reacted with sadness, and many suggested new spots they could relocate to.

HONOLULU (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — As AEG Facilities prepares to assume management duties at the Hawaii Convention Center January 1, the company has named Teri Orton as the new General Manager of the 1.1 million square-foot facility located at the entrance to Waikïkï, O‘ahu. She will join AEG on December 18. In her new role, Orton's duties will include oversight of the Convention Center, including sales, marketing, operations, finance and concessions for the facility.
